A Money Mule is a person who uses their account with a financial institution to hold or transfer funds on behalf of criminals. It also includes handing over account log-in details so that a person's account is controlled by a third party. Criminals often promise hefty rewards for such activity but this rarely materialises. In reality, it can lead to a criminal conviction for the money mule which in turn affects a person's ability to travel, to secure employment and to access credit.
